Time Travel [poetry]

If I could go back in time
If I could go back in time
I’d hug you
I’d brush your hair
I’d let you know how smart and special you were
Just like you did for me

If I could go back in time
If I could go back in time
I’d pick you up and carry you away
I’d protect you
Be the dad you never had
To make up for the mother I lost

If I could go back in time
If I could go back in time
Nothing would really change
I’d get to say I love you again though
And if I did my job right
I guess I’d just fade away
